The Crew is an online-only racing video game released on 29 Jun 2018, developed by Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections, and published by Ubisoft. It’s set in a persistent open world across a scaled-down recreation of the United States. The map is divided into five regions: The Midwest, the East Coast, the South, the Mountain States, and the West Coast, each with unique geographical features. Six main cities were featured: Detroit, Chicago, New York City, Miami, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, along with over thirty smaller towns. It takes about 45 minutes in real time to drive from coast to coast. The single-player campaign, around 20 hours long, follows protagonist Alex Taylor infiltrates criminal groups. Missions can be played solo, with friends, or through online matchmaking, and up to eight players can race together with no loading screens or pauses. Players can also build cars using a companion app for iOS and Android.
Creative director Julian Gerighty described it as a role-playing game with large-scale multiplayer elements.
